James L Musgrove, 82, passed away on May 25, 2026. Born on January 26, 1944, in New Orleans, James later made his home in Houston, Texas. He will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection by all who knew him.James attended San Jacinto High School and went on to graduate from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree—an education that reflected the careful, methodical way he approached life and work.From September 1963 to September 1966, James served in the United States Army, including five months in Vietnam and thirteen months in South Korea. His years of service were marked by steadiness and resolve, qualities that continued to define him throughout his life. After his military service, he worked in the field of Construction Management for over 30 years, earning admiration for his industrious nature, meticulous standards, and the quiet pride he took in doing things the right way.James was the son of Jesse James Musgrove and Fanny Adler Schwartz Musgrove. He was the cousin of Glenda Musgrove Gilmore and Jackie Musgrove Yuhr. He especially enjoyed family time with Mark Gilmore and partner Cari, Michelle and Roland Villarreal, Melissa and Patrick Boyles, Matthew Gilmore and sons, Gabe, Brayden and Luke, as well as Shannon Adaway and Holly Zinda.Always willing to contribute his time, talent, wisdom, and experience, James was a dependable presence for friends and family members—particularly when a project called for construction or mechanical know-how. He brought to those moments not only skill and care, but also a good-natured spirit and a sense of humor that made even hard work feel lighter.James will always be appreciated, remembered, and admired for his conservation of resources and materials. “Waste not want not” was a personal creed he embodied every day of his life. His ability to recycle, reuse, repair, and give new life to things others would discard was elevated to an art form—an enduring example of practical stewardship and thoughtful living.The family is grateful for the time shared together—enjoying each other’s company, good food, jokes, poker games, and James’s always-creative Chinese Christmas gift ideas.
