John Champ Abner

John Champ Abner, 67, was born December 13, 1958, in Hamilton, Ohio, and passed away June 28, 2026. He moved to Lake County in 1979 from Cincinnati, Ohio.

John was an electrical contractor whose steady work reflected the devotion he carried into every part of life. He was born to Louis Gene & Geraldine Abner.

Music was the enduring thread of John’s life. He began playing guitar at just six years old, and he held a lifelong dream of being recorded on an album. In 2022 and 2023, that dream was fulfilled through two albums with Harry Love & the hellstompers.

John was a member of One Fire Church in Eustis, where he served on the Worship Team.

John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rhonda Abner of, Eustis, FL; son, John Louis (Kindra) Abner of Mount Dora, FL; son, Dan Abner of Deland, FL; son, Benjamin Abner of Eustis, FL; daughter, Stephanie (Derrick) Hanchock of Umatilla, FL; daughter, Maribeth (Dillon) Dozier of Grayslake, IL; mother, Gerri Abner of Sorrento, FL; sister, Amy (Jesse) Krok of Sorrento, FL; grandchildren: Dylan, Champ, Gage, Isabella, Gabriella, Ivan., Jasmyne, Mavrick, Brantley, Emma Lou; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Harden-Pauli Funeral Home, 1617 South Bay Street, Eustis, FL 32726, on July 1, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm with services beginning at 6:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association.
