Johnnie Edward McMillan

Johnnie McMillan Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on August 16, 2026, at his home in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 10, 1944, in Gantt, Alabama, Johnnie was a pillar of strength and his infectious smile touched all who were blessed to see it.

Johnnie was the cherished son of Nina Mae McMillan and was predeceased by his mother, as well as his grandparents, Jim and Rosie McMillan.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Betsy Lue McMillan, whom he married on March 23rd, 1962 in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Together, they built a life filled with love and adventure, traveling the world and raising their family while Johnnie served in numerous overseas and stateside bases.

A proud veteran, Johnnie dedicated 26 years to the United States Air Force, achieving the distinguished rank of Senior Master Sergeant. His service during the Vietnam War exemplifiedhis unwavering commitment to his country.

Following his military career, Johnnie continued toserve his community for 20 years with the U.S. Postal Service before retiring. Johnnie was a man of quiet dignity, whose love for his family resonated in every aspect of his life.

He is fondly remembered by his sons, Johnnie McMillan Jr. and Jason McMillan, as well as his grandchildren, Jordan McMillan, Myles Norwood, and Jade McMillan. His heart grew evenfuller with the arrival of his great-granddaughter, Madison McMillan.

A devoted family man, he loved attending his children and grandchildren's sports and activities, always their biggestsupporter. His passion for sports was evident in his unwavering loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys.

Throughout his life, Johnnie was surrounded by a host of cousins and extended family who cherished his gentle spirit. His love for travel and family adventures created memories that willbe treasured by all who knew him.

A viewing will be held to celebrate John's remarkable life on Wednesday, August 26th from 4 - 6PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 7100 Crowley Road, Ft. Worth, TX 76134, with his burial to be held at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, on Thursday, August 27th at 11:15 AM.

Though he has left this world, his legacy of love, service, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
