Born in Rockford, Illinois on July 22, 1940, Joyce passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at the age of 85.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, James; her daughter, Mary Ann, who was born silent in 1963; her parents, Glendora Onley and Leon Sarber; and her brother, Merlin Sarber.
She is lovingly survived by her four daughters: Lisa (Joe), Joannie (Jack), Kim (Steve), and Beth (Neal); 13 extraordinary grandchildren; 10 amazing great-grandchildren; and her younger brother, Chuck Onley.
Joyce was the ultimate mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren meant everything to her—they were her world, and she was theirs, offering countless hugs and endless laughter. She was truly the heart of our family.
Memorial services will be held at Thompson Funeral Chapel on May 7, 2026. A viewing will take place from 9:00–10:00 a.m., followed by the service from 10:00–11:00 a.m., with a graveside service at 12:00 pm at Holy Cross Cemetery.
