After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Judy Bobby Beard (Lauer) passed away on May 29th. Judy was born in Mobile, Alabama and was 82 years old. She grew up spending time at the beach, combing for shells on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, alongside her sister, Francis, her mother, Judy and father, James. They spent many wonderful holidays and weekends at Dauphin Island where Judy would later meet her husband, Dave Bauer. They would marry and have three children, David, Jennifer and Wendy. The family moved to the Chicago suburbs when David and Jennifer were young and Wendy was born there. Judy spent many years working as a registered nurse. She later got her master’s degree and pursued a career in nursing administration with the VA. Judy met her third husband, Chaplain James Lauer through her work at the VA. They lived in Nags Head, North Carolina in early retirement and later relocated back “home” to Mobile. Judy loved to travel, read, knit, dance, garden and her many pups. She is survived by her daughters Jennifer Fairbairn and Wendy Bauer, son-in-law Kent Fairbairn, grandson Cole Fairbairn (Sarah), great-granddaughter Madison Walker, brother-in-law, George Bauer, nephews Mickey Davidson (Sara Jane), James Davidson (Kim), Danny Davidson (Emily), Jason Bauer (Natalie) and niece Cindy Dimiglio (Jeff). She is pre-deceased by her son, David Bauer, grandson, Alex Walker, sister, Francis Davidson, and brother-in-law, Arthur Davidson. Funeral services will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 2nd, beginning with a visitation at 10:30 a.m. and a chapel service immediately following at 11 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
