Kathryn Lou Burke

Kathy Burke of Austin, Texas, died unexpectedly on August 20, 2026, at 67 years old.

At 67, she certainly died too soon. Kathy was a force of energy—full of spirit, full of opinions, full of love, and always ready to keep going. She had so much love to give, and she gave it freely and fiercely to the people around her.

Kathy was an avid Neil Young fan and, like the song, she had a heart of gold. She believed everyone was deserving of love and was deeply invested in the people around her. She was a helper, always. She took care of sick friends, made food for people, helped when someone couldn't manage things on their own, and showed up when she was needed. She had strong convictions about what was right and wrong and was never afraid to advocate for what she believed was best.

Kathy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind her husband, George; her children, Will and Julie; her grandchildren, Lily and Layla; her sister, Sherry; six nieces and nephews; her mother-in-law, Annette, whom she lovingly called “Mom”; two brothers-in-law whom she cared for deeply; and countless friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, two sisters, a step-brother, a brother in law, and a nephew.

Kathy leaves behind people who loved her, people she loved, and countless people whose lives were touched by her generosity and kindness. She will be deeply missed.
