Kevin Thomas Smith

Kevin Thomas Smith, of Wilmington, NC, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 18, leaving this world far too soon.

Kevin was a free spirit and kindred soul who lived life in his own way. His personality was magnetic and you couldn’t help but be drawn to him. He had a heart that was bigger than words could ever describe, and those who knew him best knew how deeply he loved his family. His love for "his girls" - Lindsey, Kirstie, and Kinsey - was the biggest part of who he was.

He was not perfect – none of us are – but he was deeply human. He was an artist, a mechanic, a comedian, a fisherman, an ocean lover, and an all hours handyman – always willing to lend a hand to those he loved most. He was all the warmth, all the laughter, all the energy in every room he walked into. He leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever: his laughter, his stories, his unique way of seeing the world, and the moments when his deep love for his family shone through.

His family takes comfort knowing that he is finally at peace. He leaves behind the eternal love of his life, Lindsey Smith; his daughters and his reason for being, Kirstie and Kinsey; and many other family members and friends who so deeply loved him. He left us far too early, but he will never be forgotten. Fly free, Kevin. May you finally know that you were loved more than you could ever know and you will be missed for all the days on this earth.
