Larry Dale Powell, 69, of Harrogate, Tennessee, passed away surrounded by family. A devoted father and partner, Larry was known for his steady kindness, gentle humor, and quiet strength. He spent his working life as a coal truck driver and found great joy in the outdoors whether fishing, farming, or taking rides in his truck with his best buddy, Rascal.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Onzie and Opal (Clark) Powell; his brother Jim Powell; and his sister Marylou Powell Brooks.
He is survived by his children, Cameron Powell and Kaitlyn Powell; his bonus daughter, Veronica Rader; the love of his life, Virginia Messer; his sisters Connie Russell, Priscilla Alexander (and husband Jerry), and Beverly Joye Conley; and several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Larry treasured time with family. His warm presence, steadfast spirit, and gentle ways brought comfort and joy to those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 26, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM with interment to follow in the Hooper Cemetery.
