Laurette Sheppard

Laurette Sheppard, 79, died in her home on August 19, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Living in Idaho for most of her life, she and her husband Ron recently moved to Mesa, Arizona, to be closer to care and support as her health declined from dementia.

Laurette was born at St. Anthony General Hospital in St. Anthony, Idaho on February 26, 1947 to Ray Pfost, and Norma (Hammond) Pfost. She attended Idaho Falls High School and later graduated from dental assistant school to work with her husband at his dental practice in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Laurette married her childhood sweetheart, Ron Sheppard, on February 26, 1965, in Idaho Falls. They soon moved to Pocatello, ID, then Seattle, WA, San Diego, CA, back to Idaho Falls, and much later to Mesa, AZ. They had two sons, Bob and Cory.

Laurette was a devoted wife and mother and shared her love of baking with those around her. She was known to bake homemade bread, wedding and birthday cakes, and even peanut butter cookies for her grand fur babies! Many mornings, the family would gather around for her famous sourdough pancakes, which no one could replicate.

Her early childhood years were spent on the family farm in St. Anthony, Idaho before they moved to Idaho Falls. She enjoyed camping, fishing, snowmobiling and family hikes in the beautiful mountains of Idaho. There were many memorable times at her parent’s cabin in Island Park. Weekends in the summers would include huckleberry picking in the Heise area. Later in life, she loved traveling in the motor home with Ron and visiting family in Arizona. Houseboat vacations on Lake Powell and RV camping at Gros Ventre in Wyoming were among her favorite trips. Laurette loved animals and always had at least one dog as a special companion. Coco was by her side at her passing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Idaho Falls where she actively participated by singing in the choir, serving as the secretary, and cooking and baking at many events.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Norma Pfost and brother-in-law Rod Luck. She is survived by her loving husband, Ron, sons Bob (Erin) Sheppard of Louisville, Kentucky, Cory (Elisa) Sheppard of Mesa, Arizona, and sister Brenda Luck of Hurricane, Utah. Grandsons Matt (Tori), Bobby (Makinzy), Jake (Shea), and four great grandchildren.

At this time, no arrangements have been made. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
