Leon Morris Capouano

Leon Capouano, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend died on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at the age of 95. Leon was born on January 3, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia to Esther and Morris Capouano. The family moved to Montgomery 9 years later. Leon graduated from Sidney Lanier High School. He then attended the University of Alabama for his undergraduate degree. He began law school at Emory University in Atlanta, where he met his future wife, Sylvia Arogeti. Sylvia and Leon married in August 1956. He finished his law degree at the University of Alabama. After teaching law at New York University, Sylvia and Leon made their home in Montgomery where Leon had a successful law practice. He was a lifelong member of Agudath Israel Etz Ahayem Synagogue.
