Lien Yao Hill

31 mai 2026 Dignity Memorial

Lien Yao Hill, born December 2, 1945 in Beijing, China, passed away on May 31, 2026 in Burbank, California, surrounded by her beloved husband, daughter, and son.

She came into the world as the youngest of eighteen children, born to a renowned physician and pharmaceutical inventor. Her childhood was filled with simple joys such as climbing fruit trees and eating from the branches, which she carried with her for life.

Lien embraced the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Taiwan and served as a full-time missionary. She married Douglas Liddell Hill in 1972, with whom she had two children. She was dedicated to her faith and family, founding the Overseas Chinese LDS Pioneers Association in 2000, which she led until her passing.

Her life was marked by planting and nurturing — her garden, her faith, her community. She was known for her generosity, her ability to turn strangers into friends, and her act of love through sharing her harvest and her faith.

Her earthly life was a garden that helped others feel closer to God.
