Line Kastrup Hinojosa

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Line Kastrup Hinojosa, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Line left this world on July 16, 2026, at M D Anderson Hospital in Houston, surrounded by family and friends. Born on September 19, 1988, in Rungsted, Denmark, Line's life was a testament to resilience, love, and dedication.

Line was the beloved daughter of Helle and Niels Kastrup. Her early years were spent mostly in New Jersey, and she moved to Houston, Texas, with her family in 1994. She spent joyful summers in Denmark with her grandparents on the beautiful island of Bornholm and at the beach house in Ebeltoft. These experiences instilled in her a lifelong love of travel and adventure, a passion she later shared with her husband, Hector Hinojosa III.

A woman of remarkable intellect and compassion, Line graduated from Cypress Springs High School in 2006 and pursued a degree in nursing. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 2010, and her talent and commitment to helping others led her to attain a master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Texas Woman’s University in 2017. Line's career began in the Surgery ICU at Methodist Hospital, and in 2018 she joined Baylor College of Medicine, where she excelled as a Nurse Practitioner and ultimately as an Assistant Professor and Lead Advanced Practice Provider in the abdominal transplant and hepatology clinic. She also enjoyed educating and was teaching at Alvin Community College Nursing Program in 2017.

Line's professional life was marked by her unwavering commitment to patient care and her colleagues. Her compassion and expertise made a lasting impact on many lives, and her leadership in the field of nursing was inspiring and transformative.

Line's personal life was equally rich. She was a seasoned traveler, exploring the world with Hector, visiting diverse countries such as Italy, Germany, Greece, and Scotland, as well as Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. These journeys were not just about seeing new places, but about creating cherished memories together with Hector.

An avid reader, Line's home was filled with books and lively discussions with her book club. Her friends and family cherished her infectious laugh and quick wit, qualities that brought warmth and joy to everyone she encountered. Line was a fierce defender of human rights and democracy, always standing up for those in need.

Throughout her two-year courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer, Line demonstrated remarkable strength and grace, and she continued to support her family and to care for her patients at the clinic. Her ability to keep friends and colleagues informed through her articulate and insightful writing reflected her dedication to education and her exceptional communication skills. Through social media her updates and explanations brought knowledge about the triple negative breast cancer to a wide community in several countries.

Line leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She is survived by her devoted husband, Hector, and their two beautiful children Mila and Nikolai. She is also survived by her parents, Helle and Niels Kastrup, and her sister, Louise Kastrup King, her husband Ryan and children Charlotte and Alexander. Furthermore by her parents in-law Lupe and Hector Hinojosa Jr., and her sister-in-law Gabrielle Wiltz and her husband Quenten and daughter Harper. She also leaves behind a strong village of friends who will forever support Hector and the kids.
