The day he celebrated his 94th birthday with joy, Louis Racine was hospitalized. He passed away the following day, July 6, 2026, at the Hôpital Fleurimont in Sherbrooke, where he received high-quality end-of-life care.
He leaves behind his wife Marie Malavoy, his children Tristan (Alexandra) and Charlotte (Vincent), his grandchildren Émile, Marius, and Joséphine, his brother Claude (Céline), his sister Lise (Guy), his brother-in-law Laurent, his sister-in-law Sophie (Hélène), and many nieces, nephews, and valued friends.
He spoke of his family with great affection. He was a present, caring, curious, and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a talented professor for forty years at the University of Sherbrooke, focused on fostering the desire to learn and cultivate wisdom rather than merely accumulating knowledge. His influence will be felt in many minds and hearts.
The family will receive condolences at the Sherbrooke Funeral Cooperative (485 rue du 24 juin, Sherbrooke) on July 31 from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, and on August 1 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the same location. It will also be possible to watch the service via live stream.
