Maria Sanchez Pruneda

Maria Pruneda, 92, of San Juan, Texas, passed peacefully at home on May 31, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Maria was a woman full of warmth, music, and joy. She could often be found playing music while cooking for the people she loved. Her vibrant spirit showed in everything she did — especially in her love for bold animal prints and her ability to make every gathering feel special.

Maria shared a beautiful marriage of 69 years with her beloved husband, Ramiro Pruneda, a love story that became the heart of their family. Together they raised three daughters, Linda, Cris, and Belinda, who will forever carry her strength, warmth, and traditions in their hearts.

She was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided her throughout her life and brought her comfort and peace. Maria believed deeply in the importance of family, love, and caring for others, and she created a home filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable meals.

Maria will be remembered for her lively spirit, her devotion to family, and the way she made ordinary moments feel special.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Isabel Puente; brothers, Ysabel Sanchez and Hilario Sanchez, and sister, Santiago Luna.

She is survived by her husband, Ramiro Pruneda; daughters, Linda (David) Holder, Cristina (Robert) Salazar, Belinda Pruneda; and grandchildren, Daniel Salazar, Brendan Borgers, Bibi (Jake) Randolph, and many nieces and nephews. Though her family grieves this tremendous loss, they also celebrate a life beautifully lived and deeply loved. May she rest peacefully in God’s eternal embrace.
