Marie Morvant Matherne passed on April 29, 2026, at the age of 63, having been born on July 5, 1962, and residing in Marrero, Louisiana.
She is the beloved wife of the late Elton J. Matherne, Jr.
She is the loving mother of Elton J. Matherne, III (Heather), Brent M. Matherne, Rusty J. Matherne (Catelyn) and Joycelyn M. Richards (Dylan). Beloved grandmother of Mackenzie A. Matherne (Matt), Carter J. Matherne, Peyton J. Matherne, Nathan Matherne, Dawson J. Matherne, Baker S. Matherne and Rustyn C. Matherne. She is the sister of Jesse Morvant (Brenda) and Ricke Morvant (Judy).
She is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Betty Morvant, her brothers Kenny Morvant, James (Pork-chop) Morvant, and Kevin (Moe) Morvant, her nanny Mayola Graver and her grandson Emmett Richards and her nephew Steve D. Morvant.
Marie loved her family with all her heart, she loved the bus trips to the casino, beach trips and she loved spending time with her husband and her family. She also enjoyed her friends which were like family at Tewelde's Family Market in Lafitte, Louisiana.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
