Marilynne Jane McKee

Marilynne Jane McKee, age 101, passed at her home on August 19, 2026.

Marilynne Jane Miller McKee was born in Chicago on June 21, 1925, to William and Lillian Miller. Much of her youth was spent swimming and diving at the YMCA and Town Club. She was the 1944 National AAU diving champion, and an alternate for the canceled Olympics of that year.

In 1948, she married Richard McKee. They settled in Cedar Lake, Indiana until 1964, when they moved to Des Moines. They had two children, Kathy and Richard. Marilynne enjoyed playing golf and swimming at Hyperion Field Club, and in her later years she worked at Des Moines University, assisting students learning their bedside manner; taught arthritis swimming classes at Walnut Creek YMCA; and swam in state and national Senior Olympics.

She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister, her husband and son, and her daughter's partner, Gary Morris.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy McKee; three grandsons, Bryan (Rhonda) Sacre, Jason Sacre, and Kyle (Laura) Sacre; five great grandchildren, Paxon, Prezley, Izzy, Scout, and Lucky Sacre; daughter in law Suzanne (Hector) McKee Estrada; nieces, Linda (Sandy) Butler, and Dawn (Bruce) Shelton; and her beloved caregiver, Shawnese Warren.

Family will meet friends at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel from 2:30-3:00 pm on Friday, September 4th, 2026, followed by a graveside service.
