Mark D. Dill, age 56, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Wynona Dill; his paternal grandparents, Stella Mae Clark and William Aaron Dill of Peterson, Alabama; and his maternal grandparents, Maggie Bernice Bullock and Velmer McNeil of Moss, Mississippi.

He is survived by his loving wife, Julie Golsan Dill; his father, Aaron Dill; his son, Aaron Daniel Dill; and his stepdaughters, Kati Fernekes (Nathan), Karson Renda (Michael), Kennedy Maddox, and Kamdyn Maddox. He also leaves behind his three beloved grandsons, Finn Fernekes, Mays Fernekes, and Scout Fernekes. Additional survivors include his brother, Jonathan Dill (Celeste), and his sister, Amy McDaniel.

Mark graduated from Central High School in 1988. He proudly joined the United States Air Force, where he served honorably for 6 years. After returning to Tuscaloosa, he attended the Police Academy and began a career in law enforcement. He served with the Tuscaloosa Police Department for 6 years before continuing his career with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years. Mark retired in 2019 after many years of dedicated service to his community.

Retirement did not slow him down for long. He later joined Dick’s Sporting Goods in Tuscaloosa, where he worked as the Lead in the Golf Department, combining his love for people with his passion for the outdoors and the game of golf.

Mark was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, son, brother, and friend. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing, and spending time outdoors. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was known for his kindness, loyalty, and generous spirit.

More than anything, Mark treasured being “PawPaw” to “his boys.” His love for his grandsons brought him endless joy, and the memories they shared will be cherished forever.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the Red Barn Shelter in Sokol Park at 5901 Watermelon Road, Northport, AL. Visitation will begin at 6 PM, and a service will follow at 7 PM.
