Marvin Albert Marks

Marvin A. Marks, 86, of Great Falls, VA, passed away on August 6, 2026, in Reston, VA.

Marvin, who went by Mark, was born in Washington, DC to Joseph Marks and Anna Kadetsky Marks on December 16, 1939. He graduated from the University of Maryland. He married his wife, Nancy, on May 19, 1974 in West Hartford, Connecticut.

Mark worked as the Chief Financial Officer for the National Endowment for the Arts for many years. Prior to that, he worked for the Treasury Department and other government agencies. Mark was proud to be a veteran. He served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Munich, Germany for 6 years.

Mark was part of the Association of Government Accountants. He received many awards for his dedication to the National Endowment for the Arts. He received Distinguished Service Awards in 1992 and then again in 2000. He served in the United States Government for 40 years. In his retirement, he published a book, Beyond Tears, about his child with mental illness to help other parents in similar situations. In his free time, he was known to play tennis with friends. Mark was also a frequent traveler, and had been all over the world.

Mark is preceded in death by his mother Anna, his father Joseph, sister Barbara, sister Sandra, and his best friend, Norman.

Mark is survived by his wife Nancy, his daughter Debbie and her husband Al, his son Brian and his wife Aurea, his son Jasper, his daughter Erin and her husband James, his granddaughter Jalyn and her fiancé Michael, his grandson Jacob and his fiancé Liesl, his granddaughters Hailey and Chloe, and his grandson Tyler.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 10, 2026 at King David Memorial Park. The address is 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. Please park at the main building. There will be a procession to the funeral service and burial. Arrangements are by National Funeral Home.
