Mary Buttler Latin

Mary Howland Buttler Latin, 92, of Dallas, passed away on August 22, 2026 after a courageous battle against Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born at Baylor Hospital on November 22, 1933 to Howland Buttler and Lucile Lewis Buttler. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Latin, brother George Buttler, and sisters Dorothy Buttler Angell and Barbara Buttler Dodson.She was a graduate of Highland Park High School and received a Bachelor of Science – Speech from Northwestern University in 1956. She met Don while attending Northwestern and they married at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in 1957.Don and Mary were long time members of Park Cities Presbyterian Church.Mary is survived by daughter Lynne Fleming; son Richard Latin (Monica); granddaughters Shelby Nelson (Alec) and Chloe Fleming (Nathan Johnson); great-granddaughters Finley and Ellison, and great-grandsons Braxton and Layne.The family would like to give thanks to The Tradition – Lovers Lane and their wonderful caregivers, nurses and staff and to the nurses at All Star Hospice.A graveside service will be held at Sparkman-Hillcrest cemetery on Wednesday August 26th at 9:00 AM followed by a chapel service at Park Cities Presbyterian Church at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or an organization of your choice.
