Mary Raub, 88, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026.Mary was born on August 7, 1938, in Dimock, South Dakota. She grew up with her mother and two brothers in a one-room schoolhouse. After graduating from high school, Mary worked at the local grocery store.On August 30, 1958, she married the love of her life, Bill Raub. They soon moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where they welcomed their first daughter, Debbie, in 1962. The family later moved to Des Moines and Marshalltown, Iowa, before settling in Omaha, Nebraska, where Mary and Bill built their first home in 1968.In 1969, they welcomed their second daughter, Peggy, followed by their third daughter, Cindy, in 1970. Seven years later, in 1977, Mary and Bill built their forever home, where they lived for the next 49 years.Mary’s Catholic faith was a strong foundation throughout her life. She was a devoted parishioner of St. John Vianney Church, where she sang in the choir for many years.Above all else, Mary’s greatest priority was her family. In 1995, she welcomed two sons-in-law, Dave and Shawn, into the family. She never missed a defining moment in her children’s lives and was equally devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love, presence, and unwavering support will forever be treasured by the family she cherished so deeply.When she wasn’t busy with family, Mary enjoyed bowling, reading, and knitting. She found joy in the simple things and in spending time with the people she loved.Mary leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, love, and devotion that will continue through the generations who were blessed to call her Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and friend.She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Dave) Schmitz, Peggy Raub, and Cindy (Shawn) Sutton; grandchildren Tia, Zach, Samantha, Clay, Ben, and Joe; great-grandchildren Nevaeh, Anthony, Estelle, Julia, Freyja, and William; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, Leona and William Locken; brothers Laverne (Mary Katherine) Locken and Jerome (Audrey) Locken and her husband Bill.Please join us in celebrating Marys life. Visitation will be held at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a Rosary Service to occur at 7:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 5815 Oak Hills Drive, Omaha, Nebraska 68137, on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11:00 am. A Graveside Service will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 7800 W Center Rd, Omaha, NE 68124, on September 4, 2026, at 1:30 pm.
