Maureen was born in the Bronx to Mary (Molly) O’Donnell and John (Jack) Roche, immigrants from Co. Kerry, Ireland. Maureen graduated from St. Luke’s Parochial School and Aquinas High School. In 1959, she married Jerome O’Connor, a native of Co. Sligo, Ireland. They are the proud parents of a daughter, Colleen Fuller.
Maureen and Jerry moved to New City in 1966, and since that time have been active members of St. Augustine’s Church. In 1991, Maureen graduated from the Legal Assistant Program at Rockland Community College. She retired as a Paralegal Specialist from the Town Attorney’s Office in Clarkstown in 1999, having worked there for 15 years. She was also a proud member of the Big Sisters.
Maureen loved singing, ballroom dancing, set dancing and all things Irish. She was a member of the Irish American Cultural Center in Blauvelt and the Pearl River Ceili Group. She was also a member of Division 3, LAOH for more than 30 years where she served as Division Secretary and in the Office of Missions and Charities. She also served as LAOH County Secretary. She was a member of the Feis Committee for over 40 years. In 2001, Maureen was Rockland County Aide to the Grand Marshal in the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
