Michael Anthony Ross Sr., age 74, was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Michael graduated from Frederick Douglass High School, where he played the cornet. He continued his education at Clark Atlanta University, where he played baseball and earned a degree in Physics and Mathematics. He later attended Georgia Tech, majoring in Electrical Engineering.
In 1978, Michael married Lottie Marie Brown, and together they moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where he began his career with Alabama Power, then later with Southern Company. He also built a wonderful home and raised their family.
Michael was a caring and kind man of many talents and interests. He volunteered with the Big Brother Program and worked with Junior Achievement. He was highly skilled in cooking, sewing, design, and electrical work. He also joined a bowling league and started/coached an AAU girls basketball team.
No matter the need, he was always willing to give his time, creativity, and knowledge to uplift and edify others.
Above all, Michael was deeply passionate about serving God and guiding his family in Christ. His faith was central to his life, and he sought to lead his family through his love, example, and devotion to God.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Woodrow Ross, and his sister, Janet Payne.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Lottie Marie Ross; his children, Dana Michelle Ross and Michael Anthony Ross Jr.; his sisters, Barbara Howard and Jane Mosley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
