Michael Campbell

James Michael "Mike" Campbell, age 78, of Hoover, Alabama, passed away on July 27, 2026. A lifelong resident of the Birmingham area, he was born to James L. and Mary Charles Campbell in Helena, Alabama on July 11, 1948. Mike graduated from Thompson High School and UAB, and went on to earn a Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law.

After establishing a successful law practice, Mike was honored to be elected and to serve as District Attorney for the 18th Judicial Circuit of Alabama from 1986 to 1992. In 1993, he re-entered private practice, enjoying a long and gratifying career.

Mike loved music, history, travel, driving racing Porsches, and Alabama football, but more than anything, he was exuberant about living life. In the tradition of his Irish grandfather, he relished meeting and talking with people from all walks of life, and was a loyal and devoted friend.

Preceded in death by his mother and father, Mike is survived by his best friend, Pam Campbell; brother David Campbell (Barbara); sister, Della Montgomery (Mark); nieces and nephews Jeff Campbell (Karly), Jennifer Campbell Jenkins (Matt), and Marcus Montgomery (Mary), and their children.
