It is with heavy hearts—and perhaps a little disbelief—that we announce the passing of Micheal Robert Marshall, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, coworker, teacher, mechanic, and master of sourdough.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 22 years, Lisa Marie Marshall, and his daughters, Autumn Sky Marshall and Shyann Marie Marshall, who were among the greatest accomplishments of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Regina, his nephew Isaac, and his niece Emma, along with countless friends, coworkers, and people who were fortunate enough to know him.
For 35 years at Costco, he wasn't simply an employee. He earned his Silver Badge and became a highly respected forklift driver and trainer. He spent decades moving more than pallets—he moved knowledge, confidence, and a little bit of wisdom to everyone he trained. If you learned to drive a forklift from him, you probably learned quickly that there was a right way to do things…and then there was his way of making sure you never forgot it.
Outside of work, he had a talent for turning ordinary things into something worth remembering. He baked artisan sourdough bread, patiently working with flour, water, and time until he created something delicious. And when he wasn't in the kitchen, there was a good chance he was working on cars, because apparently relaxing was never really his thing.
He was a man who knew how to work with his hands, solve problems, teach others, and keep things moving—whether that meant a forklift, a car, a loaf of bread, or his family through another day. He was a devoted believer in Christ who read his Bible every day, and his home was a place where we worshipped and honored the Lord.
So instead of saying goodbye, perhaps the better thing to say is:Thank you.Thank you for 35 years of hard work.Thank you for the lessons.Thank you for the bread.Thank you for fixing what needed fixing.Thank you for the stories, the laughter, and the stubborn determination. And most of all, thank you for being a husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who left his fingerprints on so many lives. His greatest legacy won't be the Silver Badge, the forklifts, the cars, or even the sourdough starter. It will be the people he taught, the family he loved, and the memories that will keep him alive in the hearts of everyone who knew him.Rest easy. Your work here is done.
