Natividad Hernandez Buenafe

Natividad was born November 3 1929. She was the second oldest among 9 siblings, 7 brothers and 1 sister.

In her teenage years, she stood out as a strong and talented softball player and competed bravely in school intramurals. After the war she completed Normal Heights School and taught Elementary school for a few years. She stepped away from teaching after marriage to focus on raising her family. She had 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

The heartbreaking loss of her first born, who passed away as a baby deepened her devotion, made her more attentive and protective of her growing family.

Her beauty and spirited nature earned her endearing nickname “Wild Rose”, an admirer even composing a song in admiration of her beauty and grace.

Red was her favorite color, wearing it proudly in most of her outfits and accessories. Her backyard was a reflection of her love of beauty and life, filled with vibrant roses and graceful orchids.

She enjoyed cooking especially during the holidays, filling the home with warmth and delicious aromas.

Though she wasn’t a singer. She mastered one special song “You are my sunshine “.

She loves dancing whether modern, ballroom or folk

She regularly played mahjong keeping her mind sharp and lively in her later years.

Fondly called Mamang or Manang Naty by family and friends, who cherished her deeply. She took great care of her grandchildren and always wished them success and good fortune in the days ahead.

She will be greatly missed but her memories and love will be in our hearts forever.
