Peggy Ann Williams Biles, 89, of Athens, Alabama, died peacefully after a long illness on April 29, 2026.
She was born in Somerville, Alabama on January 22nd, 1937, to Henry and Lucy Williams. She is survived by her sister, Linda (Leon) McCafferty, sons James Biles, Jr., and Mark (Jane) Biles. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ethel Ann Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, James Biles; her parents, Henry and Lucy Williams; her brother, Jimmy (Sammy) Williams; sisters Evie Lee (John) Campbell, Jo Nell (Johnny) Maxwell, Sue (Jimmy) Johnson and brother-in-law, Gene Whisenant.
She was an active member of the Tanner church of Christ almost 20 years and later attended Hobbs Street church of Christ almost 40 years. She enjoyed singing in a group with her sisters that periodically appeared on WMSL radio and television in Decatur during the 1950s. She worked as a kindergarten through third grade library aide for twenty-five years for the Tanner school system. She especially enjoyed reading stories to children and providing support during school events. At home, she enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, church, and community events. She loved growing flowers, especially knockout roses, which were breathtakingly beautiful.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 12 pm to 1 pm at the chapel at McConnell Funeral Home in Athens, Alabama. The funeral service will also be held at the chapel at 1 pm and a brief graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery in Athens, Alabama, with Mark Biles officiating.
Pallbearers will be James Biles, Jr., Shane Whisenant, Matt Haney, and Keith Haney.
Special thanks to Hospice of North Alabama as well as Hospice of Limestone County for their loving care (especially Danielle, Kiara, Keegan, Sharon, and many others). Also, very special thanks to my brother Jim Biles as well as Marce Woods for many, many hours of special loving care. We would also like to thank the fine nurses and staff at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville for their great care during mother’s final days.
We would also like to express our gratitude to Teresa Dean and the fine staff at McConnell Funeral Home for their guidance, love, and support.
