Phillip Ross Hampton passed away Sunday, 10 May 2026. Phil was born in St. Joseph’s hospital on November 19, 1944, to Paul and Jessie Hampton. He was a native Houstonian and a proud graduate and football player at both Charles H. Milby High School and West Texas State University A&M – Go Buffs! Phil is survived by his wife, Debbie and his daughter, Meghan. He is proceeded in death by his sister Virginia Hosea and survived by sister Paula Jackson and brother Dr. Steve Hampton, numerous nieces and a nephew and many beloved family members.
Phil Hampton was one-of-a-kind, and generous above all. He took care of families – his nuclear – the Hampton - family, his work – American Gear and Supply – family, his church – University Baptist Church – family, and his community – Houston Rotary Club – family. He gave his time, energy and finances to support good, and his impacts reach much farther than he will or we will ever know. He was a good, good man, one of the very best and will be deeply missed.
Phil loved many, and he was loved by many. He leaves a legacy of Christian faith, perseverance, hard work, his word was his bond, and he always chose the high road.
Join us and thank God for his beautiful life and if you would like to pay it forward, be kind to your neighbor and/or give to one of the organizations special to his heart, the University Baptist Church Foundation and Houston Rotary Club.
