Prudencio Quisteriano Ramirez

In a world that often searches for heroes, our family was blessed to have one of our own.

Prudencio Q. Ramirez, lovingly known as “Eden” to his family and friends, passed away on August 21, 2026, in North Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 93.

Eden was born on April 28, 1933, in Laguna, Philippines. The only child of Daniel Ramirez, he shared a particularly close bond with his father and was raised by his father and stepmother, Eliza Yoro. He came from humble beginnings, but his circumstances never limited the size of his dreams. From an early age, Eden believed that determination, perseverance, and hard work could create a better future—not only for himself, but for the family he would one day build.

Eden attended the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines, where he met the woman who would become his lifelong partner, Esperanza Rivera. They married and built a life and family together.

Eden was the beloved husband of Esperanza Ramirez and devoted father to Edelmina Cuyos (Benjamin Cuyos), Rhodora De Jesus (Jose De Jesus), and Prudencio Ramirez Jr. (Kristine Ramirez). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Michael De Jesus, Angelo De Jesus, Kevin De Jesus, and Kyle Cuyos (Joanna Cuyos) and a cherished great-grandfather to Gabriel Cuyos, Greyson Cuyos, and Ally De Jesus.

Eden was a devoted husband and loving father. A man of few words, he did not need grand speeches to express how deeply he cared. His love was expressed through his actions—through the sacrifices he made, the responsibilities he carried, and the countless ways he cared for his family.

Perhaps nowhere was Eden’s quiet way of loving more evident than in his devotion to Esperanza. For many years, he would wake in the morning and prepare her breakfast, make sure their meals were ready, and sit beside her so they could eat together. They prayed together, traveled together, talked about their days, and found companionship in the simple routines of everyday life.

They could sit together over breakfast watching the news, disagree about what they were watching, and a few moments later be talking and laughing about something else as the best of friends. Their marriage was not about perfection, but about something far more enduring: presence, loyalty, respect, friendship, and love.

Even as Eden grew older and the things he once did so easily became more difficult, his desire to care for Esperanza remained. On his good days, he still wanted to prepare breakfast, wake her in the morning, and share their meals together. Caring for her was never simply a responsibility. It was one of the ways he loved her.

For 20 years, Eden worked for the United States Embassy in the Philippines. He was a dreamer, but he did not simply dream. He turned his dreams into hard work, and his hard work into a better life for his family.

One of his greatest dreams was to bring his family to the United States and give his children opportunities beyond those available to him growing up. Through years of determination and hard work, he made that dream a reality.

For Eden, coming to America was never simply about his own success. It was about his family. He wanted his children to have choices, opportunities, and a brighter future. The generations that followed became part of the legacy he worked so hard to create.

Eden also knew how to enjoy the life he had built. He loved traveling and experiencing new places and cultures, enjoyed watching the Los Angeles Lakers, and treasured afternoons spent with Esperanza playing slot machines together.

Eden’s life reminds us that where we begin does not determine how far we can go. He came from very little, yet he dreamed of something greater. He worked tirelessly and never lost sight of why he was doing it: his family.

He also taught us that love does not always have to be spoken.

Sometimes love is sacrifice.

Sometimes love is preparing breakfast for your wife and sitting beside her to share it.

Sometimes love is dreaming of a better life—not for yourself, but for the people who will come after you.

That was Eden’s way of loving his family.

As we say goodbye, we mourn his passing, but we also celebrate an extraordinary life. We remember the young man from humble beginnings who dared to dream beyond his circumstances; the devoted husband who spent a lifetime caring for the woman he loved; the father who worked tirelessly to give his children a better future; and the grandfather and great-grandfather whose dreams ultimately reached generations beyond his own.

His story lives on through all of us.
