Rebecca Jean Newman

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rebecca “Becky” J. Newman (Houston), who left this world on May 23, 2026, at age 70. Becky was born in Jacksonville, FL on November 14, 1955. She was a graduate of Ribault High School.

Becky found great joy in cooking and bringing people together around the table. Whether preparing family recipes or trying something new in the kitchen, her meals were made with love and meant to be shared. Family gatherings were her favorite occasions, filled with laughter, stories, and the comfort of togetherness. In quiet moments she found happiness in crocheting, creating beautiful handmade blankets that reflected her patience and creativity. Each stitch was made with love and will remain a lasting reminder of her.

Above all else, Becky treasured time spent with family and friends. She created countless memories through holidays, Sunday dinners every day, celebrations and simple moments that will forever remain in the hearts of loved ones.

Becky is survived by her two children Cybil Long and Paul Newman II (Regina); six grandchildren Delen, Scott (Valerie), Brandon (Alyssa), Brittany, Zane, and Ryne; five great grandchildren Vanessa, Braeden, Landen, Emmalee, Kamillia; sister Janice Coursey (Houston), sister in-law Stephanie Houston; two nephews Randy Jr., Dallas (Donna); two nieces Leslie (Zack), Holly; and many family and friends.

Becky is preceded in death by her husband Paul Newman, parents Wymon E. Houston and Mary D. Houston (Nettles); brothers Randy Houston Sr., Billy Houston, Tommy Houston; nephews Josh and Billy Houston II.
