Born on February 7, 1944, in Camagüey, Cuba, Eddy carried the warmth, vibrant spirit, and resilience of his homeland with him throughout his journey. He built a beautiful life anchored by hard work, devotion, and an unwavering love for his family.

For decades, Eddy poured his heart into his profession as a master waiter, gracing the dining rooms of Northern Virginia’s finest establishments, including Da Domenico, L'Auberge Chez François, and Le Canard. To Eddy, hospitality wasn’t just a job; it was an extension of his nurturing spirit. His impeccable attention to detail and genuine care turned customers into lifelong friends and made him a respected staple of the community.

Beyond his professional life, Eddy was an avid traveler with an adventurous soul. He loved exploring the world, immersing himself in the cultures and landscapes of places like Costa Rica, El Salvador, Vietnam, Surinam, Turkey, and Peru. When he wasn't exploring new horizons, he found peace in his garden and joy in watching sports. However, his greatest role was that of a doting grandfather. His grandchildren were his absolute pride and joy, and he treasured every moment spent building lasting memories with them.

Eddy’s legacy of love lives on through his children: Diana Carmenates (Tim), Ricardo Miguel Carmenates (Cece), and Susana Rosa Valdez (David); and his sisters, Zonia and Migdalia. He was the proudest grandfather to Alexa, RJ, Sebastián, Noah, Mateo, Adrian, and Alessandra.
