Richard N. Borggreen

Richard N. Borggreen, 73, of Schenevus, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 23, 2026.He was born March 07, 1953 to the late William S. Borggreen and Coralin Crandell. On November 24, 1972, Richard married the love of his life, Debra Schaffer, in Oneonta. Together they shared 42 years of marriage until Debra’s passing on April 7, 2015.Richard dedicated more than 30 years of service to Hartwick College, where he worked as Group Leader until his retirement. He was known for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in everything he cared for.Richard took great joy in maintaining his lawn, pond, landscaping, and home. He was meticulous in keeping everything neat and spotless, especially his car and property. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, passions he proudly shared with his sons and family.He is survived by his children, Mindi Borggreen, Richard and Theresa Borggreen, and Michael Borggreen; many grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; many siblings; along with many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother, William Borggreen.A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date.Online condolences may be shared with the family by visiting Grummons-Bookhout-Bennett Funerals & Cremations.
