Robert F. Eck

Robert “Bob” Francis Eck, 81, of Columbus passed away on August 5, 2026. Growing up in Bay Village, Ohio, as the third of four brothers, Bob played football and wrestled as a teen before attending Xavier University. He moved to Columbus to start his career at Buckeye Steel Castings where he began in sales and quickly rose up through the ranks to be Plant Manager. As a bachelor, Bob loved riding his motorcycle and building his music collection. Bob met and married the boss’s daughter, his loving wife, Alice “Beth” Eck, to whom he was married for 46 years. Later in his career, Bob had the opportunity to live abroad in both China and Mexico, as well as in St. Louis, managing foundries for American Steel Foundries. In retirement, Bob enjoyed spending time at the farm in Lancaster, cookouts with his children and grandchildren, and monthly outings with the BFO group: Redge, Bob, and Connie. You could always find Bob cheering on the Buckeyes and Browns, he loved watching football reruns anytime of the year. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Catherine and William Eck, his brother Bill Eck, and his sisters-in-law Lil Eck and Helen Mary Eck. He is survived by his wife Beth Eck; his daughter Mary Malphurs (Kevin); his son Danny Eck (Liz); his grandchildren Oscar, Lucy, Julie, Olive, and Otis; and his brothers Jerry Eck and Tom Eck (Deb). Bob and Beth were so proud of their children and five grandchildren, and he will be greatly missed by them.
