Roderick Andress

Mr. Roderick Andress, age 75, of Pensacola, FL peacefully departed this life on May 8, 2026. He was born on September 19, 1950, in Beatrice, AL to the late Rev. Jessie and Gussie Lee Andress.

Roderick was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rev. Jessie and Gussie Andress; his loving wife, Bertha Andress; and his stepson, Steven Lett.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted sons: Roderick Jemar (Latonya) Andress Sr., Cory (Ayana) Andress, and Keyon (Tara) Thomas, and his stepson, Philip (Ann) Perkins. He was a proud and loving grandfather to 26 grandchildren who absolutely loved and adored him: Roderick Jemar Jr., Keirsten, Jaidyn, Jabari, Ja’Niya, Kameryn, Jamaria, KyMani, Tyshawn, Ketarah, Cory Jr., LaCoria, Shari, Jakai, Labrena, Ava, Kendrel, Keyona, Keyon Jr., LaKeya, Christina, Lottie, Aaron, Jalisa, and Jordan.

He also leaves behind two loving sisters, Dorothy Broadnax and Sanda (Luther) Reid; a special niece, Antanita (“Meme”); his favorite cousin and brother-at-heart, James (“Dot”) Dickerson; Ex wife whom he shared a son with Janice Andress, his best friend Raymond (Deb) Boyd; and a very special friend, Linda Sawyer, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and dear friends.

Roderick graduated from J.F. Shields High School in 1968. He dedicated more than 32 years of faithful service to Block USA before retiring.

A man of deep faith and devotion to God, Roderick became a Deacon in 1987 at New Hope Baptist Church and faithfully served as a Deacon at Greater Union Baptist Church until his passing. He was known for his wisdom, kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family and church community.
