Roger Wai Houng Yuen

23 mai 2026 Dignity Memorial

It is with great sadness to announce that Roger Wai Houng Yuen passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon at the age of 75 years old.

Born on October 27,1950 in Taishan, Guangdong China, he was the son of Lee and Wing Yuen. Roger immigrated to Canada (Moosomin Saskatchewan) from Hong Kong in January 1965 and later moved to Saskatoon. He pursued higher education graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a Masters of Education, Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Physiology. Thereafter he joined Saskatchewan Corrections where he was a loyal respected employee within the Men’s Community Training Residence for 41 years before retiring in 2017. For his many years of service, Roger was presented with the Governor General Award by Princess Anne, which he prided himself upon.

He loved travel, having a keen sense of adventure where he could partake in new experiences and meeting new people. He had a passion for food, loved cooking and wasn’t ever intimidated to try a new recipe.

Being very intuitive and always enjoying a challenge, there was never a task too big or too small that Roger would ever shy away from, most notably working on his vehicles and the home he shared with his family.

Roger is survived by his loving wife ShaoYing of 25 years, daughter Kate (John) Rutley and sons Kalen Yuen and Kelvin Yuen. Siblings Ena (Kent) Chiu, John, Emma, Robert and David Yuen.
