Ronald Hernandez

Ronald Hernandez, 65, died on August 19, 2026. Born September 8, 1960, Ronald was a longtime resident of Sun City West, Arizona. He will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection by all who knew him—especially those who came to rely on his steady generosity, his quick wit, and the warmth he brought into everyday moments.

Raised in a large family by his mother, Ronald remained closely connected to that foundation throughout his life and is survived by six of his siblings. He attended Dysart High school, Class of 1979, where art was already central to who he was; he earned awards and scholarships, and that early dedication became the beginning of a lifelong craft.

That craft grew into a remarkable career: “Ron’s Pinstriping,” where he was self-employed as a pinstriper and artist for over 46 years. He worked across the valley, creating artwork on a wide range of vehicles and mediums. His skillset was expansive—scrollwork, original art, striping, lettering, and gold and silver leaf—each piece reflecting a disciplined commitment to quality and a pride in work done the right way. Those who watched him work saw not only talent, but a constant drive to improve, to finish strong, and to stand behind every result.

In 1988, Ronald married Elsie Hernandez. Together they built a family that remained at the center of his life: four children—Ronnie “Jay,” Andy, Marcus, and Steven—along with 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. In the time he gave to family, there was a quiet constancy and an openhanded care that made people feel welcome, included, and valued.

Outside of work, Ronald found joy in owning and driving classic and custom cars, attending car shows, and collecting die cast model cars. He loved decorating his house and his shop, and he enjoyed going to San Diego and the beach. He also had a fondness for old western movies and shows—simple pleasures that suited his appreciation for style, tradition, and character.

Ronald’s friendships stretched wide, and his sense of humor was a gift he shared freely. It was said that every time you went out with him, you would run into someone—and you would stop, because he would want to talk, and inevitably, to joke. That easy connection to others, paired with a generous spirit, helped create the large circle of friends who now feel his absence keenly.

He also contributed to the broader car community, working with “In The Streets” to produce the “All Indoor Custom Car Show,” bringing people together around shared passion and craftsmanship.

Known to many as “The Legend,” Ronald leaves behind a legacy of artistry, dedication, and the kind of good humor that made ordinary encounters memorable. He will be deeply missed.
