Roscoe Lee Braddock II — “BB” to all who knew and loved him — went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the age of 86. Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, on September 23, 1939, to Roscoe Braddock and Aileen Sledge, BB was Belle Glade’s own from his first day to his last.
His life read like an adventure story. At Belle Glade High School he played quarterback for the hometown Golden Rams and ultimately played his way onto Bobby Bowden’s squad at South Georgia College. When he left the football field he took to the sky, flying as a fighter pilot for the Navy — and when he came back down to earth, it was to ride bareback broncs on the ranch and at the rodeo.
But his greatest adventure began and ended with his family — his wife Brenda and his children, Shannon, Courtney, and Joshua.
Brenda was the love of his life, and the two of them were inseparable. His favorite place was by her side, and that’s where he would stay until the day he let go to be with the Lord.
BB was happiest with his people gathered close — singing hymns and songs, sitting around a campfire, telling stories, and sharing his faith in his Savior. He taught his family how to pray in a way that was authentic, and he left them a legacy of faith: he wanted nothing more than for his family to know the Lord, to walk out their faith, and to trust Him for all things in life. He valued family above nearly everything and loved it best when everyone was together.
BB showed up. For anyone who found themselves in a tough place — trying to work their way back but not sure how, or without the means to do it on their own — BB would wind up in their driveway, load them up in the truck, and get them headed toward wherever they needed to be. He had a special heart for men struggling with addiction and for getting them the help they needed, and he felt deeply connected to Dunklin Memorial Camp in Okeechobee and the work and ministry carried forward there. Any man looking for help, trying to work his way forward and love his family better — that was Roscoe’s community.
Roscoe was the ultimate fox-hole buddy: no one you would rather have beside you in a fight, and no one more fun to walk beside and share miles with on life’s winding roads. His favorite roads, always, were dirt roads under oak-hammock canopies.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda; his children and their spouses, Shannon and Tommy Nix, Courtney and Dwain Allen, and Joshua and Hannah Claire Braddock; his grandchildren, Shayla and her husband Aaron Livingston, Paxton Nix, Delaney Nix, Kathryn Allen, Meredith Allen, Jonas Allen, Magnolia Braddock, and Hazel Braddock; and his great-grandchildren, Scottie Livingston and Brooks Bo Livingston — in whom his best and most endearing traits live on. He is also survived by his brother, Lee Braddock, Lee’s wife, Debra, and their sons, Alexander and Augustine. He is missed terribly.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the caregivers, neighbors, and friends who supported, cared for, and visited BB.
A graveside service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park in West Palm Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial gifts to Dunklin Memorial Camp in Okeechobee, Florida (dunklin.org) — the ministry BB loved, where men are still finding the help and hope he spent his life pointing them toward.
“ I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
— Philippians 4:13
We love you so much, Daddy — and we can’t wait for the day we’ll get to ride those roads together again.
