Ruben Vogt

Ruben Vogt, 62, of Canutillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, following a courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Born February 3, 1964, Ruben was a lifelong resident of Canutillo and a graduate of Canutillo High School, Class of 1982.

Affectionately known as “El Diablo,” a nickname earned while helping his father as a child sell Diablo fireworks, Ruben was known for his strong work ethic, humor, craftsmanship, and willingness to help others. He spent more than 30 years in customer service and management and took great pride in working with his hands and providing for his family.

Ruben was married for 42 years to high school sweetheart, Hortencia. Together, they built a life from the ground up - with their own two hands, hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to one another. Their family grew with the addition of their son, Ruben John Vogt, whom Ruben deeply admired and was incredibly proud of.

Ruben loved his family, dogs, grilling, rock and roll, the outdoors, plants, animals, and the beauty of nature. Above all, he will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, and devotion to those he loved.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hortencia E. Vogt; son, Ruben John Vogt, his son-in-law Carlos M. Martinez; mother, Lucia Vogt, two sisters, as well as extended family and many dear friends.

Ruben leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and perseverance that will live on in all who knew him.

On Thursday, August 27, 2026, a Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Hillcrest West, 5054 Doniphan Dr., El Paso, Texas 79932 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A remembrance will begin at 6:15pm followed by the rosary at 6:30pm.

On Friday, August 28, 2026, a Funeral Service will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 7065 2nd Ave., Canutillo, TX 79835 from 9:30am to 10:30am, followed by a Committal Service at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 4900 McNutt Rd., Santa Teresa, NM 88008 from 11:00am to 11:30am.
