Ruby J Mills

Ruby Jenkins Mills, 92, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026.

She was born on May 31, 1933, in Dahlonega, Georgia, to Della Mae Hooper and William Jenkins. She was one of eight siblings, including her twin sister, Ruth, James, Frank, Jinx, Alice, Ella Mae and Charles.

After her parents' untimely passing in a car accident, Ruby and her siblings were separated and placed in orphanages. Ruby and her twin sister, Ruth, were eight years old and remained together, while her siblings were placed in different homes throughout Georgia.

On March 14, 1952, Ruby married Fred Mills Jr. in Columbus, Georgia. A devoted Christian and proud Baptist, she served faithfully alongside her husband as he pastored in Macon and Monroe, Georgia before they later moved to Tallahassee. They were members of East Hill Baptist Church and later Bradfordville Baptist Church. Ruby also worked for more than 15 years as a receptionist in Tallahassee at the former Capitol Inn.

Ruby is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Linda Mills, and son, Stacy Mills; her grandchildren, Christopher Mills and Meredith Mills Kurczaba; and her great-grandchildren, Whitney and Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Mills Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Deanna; her parents and her siblings.

Ruby, Mom, Grandmom and Great-Grandmom, you will be deeply missed, but we find comfort in knowing you are with Christ. You are dearly loved and will be remembered always.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312.

A Funeral Service will be held at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312, on May 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM.

Ruby’s final resting place will be at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that a donation be made in Ruby's honor to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Boulevard, Tallahassee, Florida 32308.
