Ruth A. Tolson

Ruth A. Tolson passed on August 17, 2026, at the age of 88; she was born on July 21, 1938, in Lennon, Michigan and was a resident of Columbus, Ohio. Survived by: Sons - David Allen (Melissa) Tolson and Stephen Michael (Tara) Tolson; brother - Charles Weller; grandchildren - Emelia Sue Tolson, Noah Allen Tolson, Zachary Allen Tolson, Luke Samuel (Eryn) Tolson, and Graham Michael Tolson; and great grandchildren - Thane Samuel Tolson and Talia Antonia Tolson. Preceded in death by: Parents - Albert and Sarah Jane (Coakes) Weller and brothers - Russell and George Weller. Ruth spent her career serving others. She was a graduate of nursing school, Asbury College and Ohio State, working for many years as a nursing instructor and later as a school nurse. She was a frequent member of medical missions teams in foreign countries. Ruth was a committed member of Covenant Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio. She often hosted international students who attend Ohio State University. She was a volunteer reader to children at Cranbrook Elementary School. And she mentored many foreign immigrant women who needed help with language acquisition skills, cultural adjustments, and help obtaining driver’s licenses and passing the US citizenship tests.

Visitation will be held at Covenant Baptist Church, 5100 Dierker Rd, Columbus, OH 43220, US, on August 21, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at Covenant Baptist Church, 5100 Dierker Rd, Columbus, OH 43220, US, on August 21, 2026, at 5:00 pm. A Graveside Service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Washington Street, Vernon, MI 48476, US, on August 23, 2026, at 2:00 pm.

She will be missed and remembered for her charitable spirit, her kindness to all, and her gentle ways. Jesus' words, "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth” are applicable to her. Memorial charitable gifts may be sent to Covenant Baptist Church, Asbury University, or One Mission Society (OMS).
