Salim Argalgi

Shlomo Salim Argalgi, devoted spouse, remarkable father and father-in-law, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, was a deeply kind and loving man who devoted his life to caring for his family and building a beautiful legacy rooted in love, faith, and dedication.

Born to his devout and modest father, Moshe (Moussa), he carried with him throughout his life the values of faith, dignity, perseverance, and devotion to family that were instilled in him from a young age. After tragically losing his dear mother at a very young age, he rose from humble beginnings with extraordinary strength and determination. In 1967, he immigrated from Beirut to Montreal where he met his beloved wife, our mother, Simcha (Gladys), his true אשת חיל, whom he treated like a queen. Through hard work, perseverance, honesty, and integrity, he became a self-made businessman, building from the ground up what would grow into a thriving family business and lasting legacy.

He lived by his famous expression, “Sobhan A-llah,” meaning “Hashem’s greatness.” He would often say these words while admiring the beauty of Hashem’s creations — whether tasting a beautiful fruit he wanted his family to enjoy or appreciating something in nature that he wanted those around him to recognize as the handiwork of Hashem. His Emunah and appreciation for the world around him were woven into everyday life and left a profound impression on all who knew him.

He was a man of tremendous honesty and unwavering integrity — straight as an arrow in both business and in life. He believed with complete conviction in always doing what was yashar v’tov — what was right and upright in the eyes of Hashem — even when it was difficult, and he instilled those same values in each of his children through both his words and his example.

Above all, his greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his most devoted and exemplary wife, Simcha (Gladys); his children, Moshe (Morris) and Miriam (Marianna), Linda and Jack Sadacka, Cara (Ahuva) and Moshe (Mitch) Frank, and Edna and Shalom (Carlos) Bazbaz; his beloved siblings, Sophie (Isaac Ballas (עליו השלום) , Albert, and David and Fortunata; as well as his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom continue in the path of Shomer Torah u’Mitzvot, reflecting the values, faith, and commitment he instilled throughout his life.

He was predeceased by his dear siblings, Esther and Menachem Aghai, עליהם השלום, and Allegra Abdo Aboud, עליהם השלום, whose memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

To those fortunate enough to know him personally, he was a warm and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who showered his family with love, time, guidance, and unwavering support. His life was one of resilience, devotion, dignity, and quiet strength, and the impact he made on his family and community will continue for generations to come.
