Scott David Holmes

Scott David Holmes, 66, was born on January 20, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York. He passed away on April 15, 2026, in Tampa, Florida. Scott was a cherished member of his family, known for his old soul and playful spirit.

Scott was raised in Roosevelt, Long Island. He graduated from Roosevelt Jr. Sr. High School before continuing his education at Nassau Community College. He served honorably in the Air Force. In 1985 he met his wife, Rena, and they were married in Arizona in 1986. Their union produced 3 lovely children. After living in New York, Arizona and New Jersey, Scott relocated his family to Tampa, Florida.

Professionally, Scott was a respected chef, having worked at notable establishments such as Sam Seltzer’s Steakhouse and The Capital Grille. His passion for cooking was evident both at work and at home, where he loved hosting holiday meals and cooking for family and friends.

Scott enjoyed playing and watching golf. He was a lover of music and played instruments as a child with his siblings. He was most known for riding his unicycle, even mentioning he could have made it professionally on the circus circuit. Scott cherished quiet moments spent sitting on his porch or simply relaxing at home.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Rena Holmes; children, Ian Michael Holmes, Ilisha Michelle Holmes, and Ilexis Marie Holmes; and grandchild, Talen Holmes. He also leaves behind his siblings, Yvette Holmes and Keran (Pepe) Holmes III; nieces and nephews, Shakima Gaither, Karima Holmes, Kolik Holmes, Janel Martin, Jamaine Banks, Krystal Holmes, Dayquan Syska, as well as many grand nieces, and nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Donohue Holmes and Keran Holmes Jr., his grandparents, Ethel Donohue Hilburn, John Donohue Sr., Keran Holmes Sr. and Willie Mae Holmes and his siblings, Debra Dawn Holmes and Mark Donohue.

Scott's life was a testament to the joy of family and the serenity of his faith. His deep faith in God is what sustained him til the end. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
