Serge Entine

On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, just 3 weeks short of his 92nd birthday. Beloved father and father-in-law of Leslie and Stuart Kaufman of Chicago, Illinois, and Jason Entine and Kelly Azicowitz of Toronto. Proud Zaidy of Maya, Max, and Jamie Kaufman; and Hannah Entine. Son of the late Maurice and the late Nathalie Entine. Dear cousin of Michele and Poppy Vineberg of Montreal, and Ginette Jacq of France. Serge will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Born in Paris, France in 1934, Serge escaped from the Nazi’s to Dijon at just 5 years of age, later fleeing on foot across the border to Switzerland. He moved with his parents to Montreal in 1948 after the war, and completed his Bachelor of Arts at Sir George Williams University. He moved to Toronto in 1980 and quickly adopted the Blue Jays as his hometown team (and tolerated the Leafs) while keeping the Expos and the Canadiens in his heart. After working for DuPont Canada for 30 years, he opened a Second Cup location on the Danforth in Toronto, later retiring in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. He eventually returned to his roots in Montreal, where he spent his final 18 years, never too far from a good Schwartz’s smoked meat sandwich and a cherry Coke.

Graveside service on Thursday, August 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Baron de Hirsch Community Foundation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield. Shiva following burial in Montreal on Thursday, and continuing in Toronto and Chicago on Sunday.
