Steve Wallace

Steve Wallace passed on April 17, 2026, at the age of 89. Born November 22, 1936, in Alabama, Steve lived in Anniston, Alabama.

Steve is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Griffin (Wade), and a son, Robert Wallace (Ann); grandchildren Brandon Wallace (Mary), Stephen McLeroy, Hunter Wallace (Keana), Luke Knight, and Hannah Murray (Alston); great-grandchildren Kaden Miller (Karlee), Alanna Wallace, Christopher Miller, Naomi McLeroy, Kaylee Wallace, Kyrin Wallace, Ellis McLeroy, Gabriel Wallace, and Roman Wallace; and a great-great-grandchild, Kayson Miller.

Steve was preceded in death by parents Hezekiah and Alma Wallace; a sister, Gladys Hubbard; a brother, Robert Wallace; nephews Jim Hubbard, Benjamin Hubbard; and Nieces Jane Hubbard and Mary Nichols.

Services for Steve will be Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Saks Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Edgemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Saks Baptist Church.

Steve was a native of Anniston Alabama and a graduate of Anniston High School. He retired from the US Postal Service for over 30 years. He was also a member of Saks Baptist Church.

Pop proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962 as an air policeman. That spirit of service didn’t end when he came home—it became the foundation of his life. Whether it was helping family in a time of need or quietly supporting someone in his community, Pop was always there, steady and dependable.

He was a good Christian man, and more than anything, his life was a reflection of his faith in Christ. He didn’t just speak about his beliefs—he lived them daily, through his actions, his character, and the way he treated others.

Pop loved his family deeply. He wasn’t always one for grand words, but you never had to wonder how he felt—he showed his love through what he did. If you needed him, he was there. No questions asked.

He also had a great love for sports, especially baseball. If his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren were playing, you could count on him being in the stands. Distance didn’t matter—he would drive as far as Savannah, Georgia, just to show up and cheer them on. Being present was his way of saying, “You matter to me.”

Pop was the embodiment of what the Bible teaches a man and husband should be—a provider, a protector, and a Godly leader. He led by example, with quiet strength, unwavering faith, and a heart devoted to his family.

His legacy lives on in all of us—in the values he instilled, the love he showed, and the example he set. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
