Steven Anthony Lutmer

18 septembre 2026 Dignity Memorial

Steven Anthony “Steve” Lutmer, age 71, passed away on September 18, 2026, in Skagway, Alaska.

Steve was born on May 4, 1955, in Long Beach, California, to Earl and Audrey Lutmer. After graduating from Saint Anthony’s High School in Long Beach, Steve served in the United States Air Force, where he worked as a Senior Airman specializing as a military working dog handler.

Following his military service, Steve earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and went on to build a successful career in distribution management. He worked in the industry for nearly 30 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and genuine care for the people he worked alongside and led.

Outside of work, Steve’s greatest passions were his faith, his family, and sports. He was a loving and devoted husband and an involved and deeply cherished grandfather. He made it a priority to be present for the special moments in his family’s lives. He would readily put aside whatever he was doing or even rearrange his schedule to be there for his grandchildren, making sure they knew how much they were loved.

Steve was also deeply involved in his church. He served on the media team, helped edit the church’s radio show, and was always willing to provide rides to and from church. His faith was not simply something he believe in, it was something he lived out.

Friends and family will remember Steve most fondly for his selfless spirit and his willingness to help others. He was known for going out of his way to serve anyone and everyone, even complete strangers. Whether someone needed a helping hand, a ride, his time, or simply someone willing to be there, Steve was willing and happy to help. His life was a constant demonstration of what it means to have a servant’s heart and to love others as Jesus taught.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Violeta; his children, Kathleen Reese and her husband, Philip; Christine Hodges and her husband, Joshua; David Lutmer; Steven Lutmer Jr. and his wife, Holly; and Amanda Maradiaga and her husband, Dakota; his grandchildren, Matthew, Ryann, Cyrus, Jude, Clay, Wyatt, and Ava; his brother Michael Lutmer and his wife Shannon as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Audrey Lutmer, and his brother, Lawrence Lutmer.

Visitation will take place Friday, October 2, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lloyd James Funeral Home, Tyler, TX. A funeral service will be held on October 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Chapel Tyler, 4707 Chandler Highway, Tyler, TX 75709. The service will be followed by a graveside service at Rose Lawn Cemetery, 2003 Blue Mountain Boulevard, Tyler, TX 75703.

Steve will be deeply missed by his family, friends, church community, and all those whose lives he touched. His legacy of faith, love, generosity, and service will continue through the many people he helped and loved throughout his life.
