Thanh-Nhan Bui, 81, of Houston, Texas, passed away on July 31, 2026. Born on January 2, 1945, in Dalat, Vietnam, she was the daughter of Them Thi Do and Duong Van Bui, and one of their six children.
Throughout her life, Thanh-Nhan was known for a steady faith and a gentle, kind-hearted presence that brought comfort to those around her. Her compassion and generosity were felt not in grand gestures, but in the consistent care she offered to family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In Vietnam, Thanh-Nhan devoted herself to education as a third grade teacher. In 1992, she came to the United States, where she continued a life of service and instruction as a cosmetology instructor, a role she held with dedication until 2025. Her work reflected a patient spirit and a sincere desire to help others learn, grow, and succeed.
Thanh-Nhan shared more than 50 years of marriage with her husband, Tu Van Tra. She is survived by her son Huy Tra (Dzung Vo) and her daughter Bao-Chau Tra; her grandchildren Andrew Tra and Catherine Tra; and her sister Thanh-Canh Thi Bui. She was deeply beloved by her family, and her love for them remained a constant source of strength and warmth.
A devout Buddhist, Thanh-Nhan often visited the temple and read the Buddhist bible, drawing guidance and peace from her spiritual practice. She also cherished time spent with family and found quiet enjoyment in completing crossword puzzles—simple moments that reflected her steady heart and thoughtful nature.
Thanh-Nhan Bui will be remembered with enduring respect and gratitude, for a life shaped by faith, compassion, and generosity, and for the lasting love she gave so freely to those around her.
