Timothy Scott Mims, 48, of Columbia, S.C. passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026, after struggling with kidney and heart failure for several months.
Scott was born in Charlotte to Dr. Richard Mims, Jr. and Ellen Mims. He graduated from Glenforest Academy in West Columbia where he played on the basketball team. To say Scott was an avid Gamecock fan was an understatement. He could give you stats, names, and numbers of any player especially for football. He loved bragging on his flag football team who won their state championships 4 years in a row.
Surviving are his mother Ellen Mims; grandparents, Marian and James Wright of Columbia; brothers David Powell, Bert Mims, and Alex Mims and sisters Grace Mims and Emmalee Mims, and his daughters Abigail Mims and Zoie Weaver. He was preceded by his father Dr. Richard Mims and beloved boxer Silas.
Visitation will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, at 2:00 pm.
