Trudy Kennemore Turnbull, 87, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, of natural causes. Born on January 31, 1939, in Arkansas, Trudy was the kind of person who never met a stranger, only friends she hadn't made yet.
Trudy grew up in Iuka, MS as the daughter of the late Buster and Carrie Kennemore. She married David Turnbull in 1972, and the two shared a loving partnership until his passing in 1989. Trudy became a devoted stepmother to David's three children, pouring her heart into their lives with the same warmth and generosity she showed everyone around her.
After David's passing, Trudy reinvented herself in remarkable fashion. In her fifties, she built a successful career as a poultry broker, becoming a true self-made woman. Her drive and independence were an inspiration to her family and to everyone who knew her story. She proved that it's never too late to chase something new, and she did it with style.
Trudy was known for her quick wit, her big heart, and a personality that could light up any room. She had a real gift for making people feel welcome and cared for. When she wasn't working, you could find her on the tennis court, at the bridge table, or working through a puzzle. More than anything, though, she loved spending time with her grandsons, Zachary and Joshua Merashoff, who brought her endless joy.
Trudy also gave back generously to her community, creating a food pantry at C4 Church. Her compassion extended far beyond her circle of friends and family, and her faith quietly guided the way she lived and loved.
She is survived by her son, Brad Turnbull; her daughter, Pam Merashoff; her son, Randy Turnbull; her beloved grandsons, Zachary and Joshua Merashoff; and her nephew, Tony Harris. In addition to her husband David, Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, Buster and Carrie Kennemore; her sisters, Mickie Holleman, Tina Thomas, and Wanda Brown; and her brother, Buford Kennemore.
Simply put, everyone who met Trudy loved Trudy. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace, reunited with those who went before her.
