Velma Marie Todd

24 mai 2026 Dignity Memorial

Velma “Marie” Todd passed away on May 24, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on March 27, 1929, in Lexington, Tennessee to Otis and Lillie Scott, Marie spent most of her life in Bartlett, Tennessee.

Marie worked for many years as a secretary at Haverty’s, a bank teller for multiple banks and then a clerk for the City of Bartlett before she retired. While she valued her work, her greatest joy in life was caring for and loving her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray A. Todd; her sons, Donald, Bobby, and Terry Todd; and her grandson, Adam Todd. And a special friend John Bruno.

She is survived by her son, Scotty (Nancy) Todd; her daughter, Judy (Bo) Bosi; her sister, Inez Milam; and her sister-in-law, Virginia “Tootsie” Douglas.

Marie leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her cherished grandchildren that called her Rie: Michael (Laura) Todd, Michelle (David) Scully, Melanie (Justin) Spears, Blake Todd, Rob Bosi, and Laura (Justin) Sturdivant. Rie was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were touched by her love.

Marie never met a stranger. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome and at home the moment they walked through her door. She especially loved gathering family and friends together around food, laughter, and fellowship, and she took great joy in hosting summer picnics for the senior citizens community.

Gardening and flowers were among Marie’s greatest passions. Her yard was recognized multiple times as “Yard of the Month” in Bartlett, an honor she treasured. Raised as a farmer’s daughter, she often shared stories of coming home from school and heading straight to the cotton fields to help her father. That hardworking spirit remained with her throughout her life. She also had a creative heart and often said she wished she had attended floral design school because of the joy flowers brought her.

Her family will forever remember her love of cooking, storytelling, flowers, family gatherings, and the comfort and warmth she shared so freely with everyone around her. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Hand in Hand Recovery in Eustis, Florida in memory of Marie Todd.
