Virginia Edith Harris

Virginia Edith Harris passed away on August 8, 2026, at the age of 81. She was born on January 7, 1945, in Clatskanie, Oregon, to Lloyd and Frances (Strasser) Johnson. The second of five children, Virginia made her home in Portland, Oregon, where she built a life centered on family, hard work, and caring for those she loved.

A graduate of Jefferson High School, Virginia enjoyed a long and accomplished career. She spent twenty years as a manager with Fred Meyer before becoming an Oregon state liquor agent, a position she proudly held for many years.

Virginia had a wonderful sense of style and an unmistakable presence. Glamorous and elegant, she was never afraid to sparkle. Purple was her favorite color, and she loved anything that shimmered. She took great pride in looking her best and carried herself with grace, class, and confidence.

She was also an incredible cook who found great joy in preparing delicious meals for the people she loved. Her home reflected her warmth, creativity, and attention to detail. Virginia enjoyed decorating throughout the year, but the holidays held a particularly special place in her heart. She always went above and beyond to make her home beautiful, festive, and welcoming, creating traditions and memories her family will treasure for years to come.

Above all, Virginia was a deeply loving, caring, and supportive mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Affectionately known as “GG” to her grandchildren and family, she was someone they could always count on. She had a special way of making those she loved feel supported, cared for, and at home. Her warmth, generosity, strength, and unmistakable sparkle touched the lives of those around her and will be deeply missed.

Virginia was preceded in death by several cherished members of her family, including her beloved son, Marty K. Harris, who passed away in 1988; her father, Lloyd Vincent Johnson, in 2000; her sister, Donna R. Krieger, in 2003; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth “Lisa” Harris, in 2014; her brother, KC Johnson, in 2021; and her beloved husband, Keith Harris, in 2023. Their memories remained an important part of Virginia’s life, and she carried her love for them with her throughout the years.

She is survived by her son, Toby Harris; her daughter, Kammi Harris; her grandchildren, Savanah Nipp and Madison Harris; her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Nipp; her sister, Penny Johnson; and her brother, Lloyd Johnson.

Virginia leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memories, traditions, strength, and sparkle with them always. Though she will be deeply missed, the beauty and love she brought into their lives will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

Virginia’s final resting place will be at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland, Oregon.
