It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Wai Ping Chan, on April 26, 2026, at the age of 93.
Born in Sun Wei, Guangdong, China, Wai Ping immigrated to Vancouver in 1967 to join her husband, Yet Wah Chan. She was the devoted wife of Yet Wah for 76 years, dedicating her life to her family with selfless love.
Wai Ping is survived by her husband, Yet Wah; her five daughters, Judy (Andrew), Lana (Rufino), Alice (Mark), Lynn (Salim), and Patricia (Calvin); her grandchildren, Tiffany (Francis), Marcus, Lillian, Sheridan, Dayanara, Mitchell, Venice, and Sumner; and her great-grandchildren, Colette and Winston.
The family would like to thank the staff at the AMU at UBC Hospital and the Vascular Department at VGH for their care and compassion.
Wai Ping will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
